HOT DIP PLANT
Hot dip galvanizing is a coating of naturally occurring zinc metallurgically bonded to steel to protect it from atmospheric corrosion for 75 years or more with no maintenance. Zinc corrodes at a very slow rate hence protecting the galvanized products to last for generations.
Zinc corrodes in preference to steel and sacrices itself to protect the steel. If the steel is damaged the corrosion products from the zinc are deposited on the damaged area resealing it from the atmosphere and therefore preventing the sideways creep of corrosion. Hot Dip Galvanizing differs from paints in this respect as most paints give no protection at points of damage and only provide barrier protection.
Our capacity and capabilities allow us to hotdip galvanize nearly all types of fabricated and nonfabricated products such as structural members and assemblies, pipes and tubes, reinforcing steel, wire, tanks, sheets, plates, castings, fasteners, ttings and plates.
Steel is a fascinating material. It can however be corroded by the elements and air contamination. Hot-dip galvanizing protects steel from corrosion in an economical and environment friendly manner and considerably increases its service life.
Hot-dip galvanizing involves dipping steel into a zinc kettle at 450° C following the appropriate pretreatment. Zinc and steel will then react with one another. An iron-zinc alloy will form on the surface of the steel. This indissoluble compound of zinc and steel creates a protection, which is clearly different from all other processes. Hot-dip galvanized surfaces are not just protected from wind and the weather but also optimally protected from mechanical exposure. Under normal conditions, hot-dip galvanizing will protect against corrosion for several years.
With technology from KOERNER, Austria, the world leaders in Galvanizing and the Hot-Dip Kettle from Germany, our plant in the Sohar Free Zone is not only capable of producing the best quality with optimum zinc coating but also utilises the most eco-friendly process. Our fully automatic Programmable Logic Control (PLC) Encapsulated Pickling Plant with Fume Extraction System ensures that no harmful vapours are released to the atmosphere. This system also reduces process time, eliminates production of waste water and minimizes acid and fresh water usage through recycling.
The pre-treatment tanks, the dryer and the kettle are dimensioned to suite processing and galvanizing of large objects up to 12 m long, 1.4 m wide and 2.3 m high. The advanced galvanizing process provides consistent quality as per customer requirements.
